06. Diy shelves wall for Small spaces under $15

1 – 2×6 cut at 38″
5 – 2×4 cut at 10″
10 – 5/16 x 4 1/2″ hex bolts (we found ours on the hardware aisle for $.38 a piece)

 05. Diy Decorating Shelves in Kitchen

I used 1×2 pine to place level cleats on the wall, screwing into studs with 3″ cabinet screws.  I used 1/2″ mdf for the shelves, and I nailed that into the cleats from the top using 1″ nails and my 18 gauge nail gun.

03. DIY FLOATING SHELVES

Here’s all you’d need to get ‘er done:
1 sheet of 1/4 plywood, sanded on one side or lauan ($15)
10 1×2 pine boards ($1 Each)
1″ brad nails (think the little tack nails that you use to put the back on an IKEA bookcase)
2″ screws
3″ screws (for mounting to the wall, you will only need about 10 of these)
wood filler
sand paper
paint (I used high gloss white)

02. Diy Rustic Shelf

First thing to do is lay out some old pieces of cardboard to be able to stain the untreated wood without making a complete mess. Use a brush or sponge to lightly stain the wood, wiping the excess stain off of the wood after allowing it to dry. The longer you let it dry, the darker the stain will be. I let my stain dry for about 5 minutes before wiping the excess off.

The second step is to actually build the frame of the shelf. Each piece of piping is simply screwed together, no tools needed! You just might want to enlist the help of a big strong man to help secure the joints:) Another tip is to wipe the pipes clean before beginning to build it, they are pretty dirty. OR you could spray paint them to create a completely different look and feel- maybe a neon color pop!
